SPEEDING, DISTRACTED DRIVING CRACKDOWN
Law enforcement agencies across Minnesota are increasing patrols starting today (Thursday) cracking down on things like speeding and distracted driving. Mike Hanson with the Department of Public Safety says 479 people lost their lives on Minnesota roads last year, the second highest total in 20 years. The department says they will specifically target speed and distracted driving because those statistics have been going in the wrong directions for years. The time between Memorial Day and Labor Day are known as the “100 deadliest days” when roads have increased traffic for summer travel and drivers drive faster.
