Three Major Wildfires 0% Contained As Of Tuesday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for most of the state as the Camp House Fire near Brimson continues to grow.

More than 12,000 acres have burned there while the Jenkins Creek Fire near Fairbanks has burned 6,800 acres, and the Munger Shaw Fire near Cotton burned 1,400 acres as of 10:30 a.m., Tuesday. All three fires were zero percent contained at that time. Tinderbox-dry conditions persist throughout much of the state.

Officials say residents should not be starting any fires while the Red Flag Warning is in effect. The DNR will not issue or activate open burning permits for large vegetative debris burning during the Red Flag Warning, and campfires are discouraged.
