8 Kayakers Rescued from Sauk River

(Learfield News/Sauk River, MN) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office warns people to stay out of the Sauk River after eight kayakers had to be rescued Saturday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the stranded kayakers on the river near Rockville.

The group had launched from Eagle Park, hitting multiple areas of low-hanging trees in the water, as well as strong flow and high water levels.

First responders helped get them to a nearby shoreline.

No one was injured, but two kayaks were lost downstream.

Anyone who sees the orange Pelican kayaks should contact deputies.
