Buxton Reaches Semifinals Of HR Derby, Now Set For All-Star Game

(Minnesota News Network- Atlanta, GA) — Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton had a strong showing in last night’s Major League Baseball Home Run Derby in Atlanta. Buxton made the semifinals after a strong opening round saw him hit 20 long balls. He was ousted in the semifinals by Tampa Bay slugger Junior Caminero, who e eventually lost to Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh. Meanwhile, Buxton and Twins teammate Joe Ryan will represent Minnesota in tonight’s M-L-B All-Star Game. Both are reserves on the A-L roster. Buxton is from Baxley, Georgia, about a four-hour drive from where tonight’s game will be played. First pitch tonight is set for 7 P-M.
