WOMAN RESCUED FROM CROW RIVER IN MEEKER COUNTY

A woman was rescued from the Crow River Tuesday evening after she became trapped by a strong current.  The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office was called around 4:45 pm and found 44-year-old Rae Kurtz of Darwin clinging to a tree with only her face and arms above water.  Authorities say Kurtz was tubing with a friend near Forest City when she was swept downstream and pinned against a downed tree.  Rescuers were able to guide her back to shore with help from Litchfield’s boat crew.  Kurtz was treated at the scene and one deputy was hospitalized for exhaustion.  Authorities are asking you to stay off the Crow River due to high water, strong currents and debris hazards.
