Minnesota National Guard Units Conduct Post Deployment Event
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – On Saturday, the Minnesota National Guard will host a combined
welcome-home event for more than 85 Soldiers from the 347 Regional Support Group (RSG)-
elements of the 147th Theater Finance Company (T-FICO) and 1904th Acquisitions Team (AQ
TM) from Brooklyn Park, and the 204th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) from Cottage
Grove, who recently returned from 10-month deployments to the Middle East.
“These (Post I and II) events provide essential information, services, referrals, and outreach to
address the challenges of transitioning back to everyday life.” said Army Col. Joel Stamp,
commander of the 347 RSG, “The structured support of this program ensures a smoother
reintegration, and strengthens ties between our Soldiers, their loved ones, and their community.”
The event will feature a video series that fosters discussion on difficult topics for the service
members and their families. The workshop also utilizes group discussions and journaling to help
navigate potential post deployment issues. Throughout the day, participants will visit what is
known as “provider alley” to gather additional resources and information to help them with their
transitions back to their daily lives.
“Post deployment reintegration events are proven to enhance the readiness of our Soldiers and
families upon their return home.” said Army Brig. Gen. Joseph Sharkey, commander of the 34th
Infantry Division. “Information on medical insurance, Veterans Affairs benefits, educational and
employment assistance, and support resources that are available statewide to assist with
reunification and the transition back to the civilian workforce.”
This will be the final Post event for the 247th T-FICO, and the first for the 204th MCAS and
1904th AQ TM- the latter two have Post II scheduled for November.
