Emergency Assistance to Counties Hit by Summer Storms and Flooding

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz announced the authorization of emergency assistance for areas of Minnesota following storms and flooding that caused significant destruction earlier this summer.’

“Communities across the state are still recovering from severe storms that brought destructive winds and rain in June,” said Governor Walz. “As Minnesotans work tirelessly to rebuild, we are committed to providing the resources and partnership necessary to aid in critical recovery efforts.”

Heavy rainfall on June 25 caused flooding in Big Stone, Houston, Lac Qui Parle, Renville, and Yellow Medicine Counties, causing significant damage to public property. Funding and public assistance will aid in rebuilding public infrastructure following the storms.

The total assistance will be determined once all documentation and recovery work has been completed.
