Vikings fall to 1-1, other NFL News
(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Atlanta Falcons had Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback J-J McCarthy’s head spinning during a 22-6 win last night on Sunday Night Football. The Falcons defense racked up six sacks, intercepted two passes, and had two fumble recoveries. New kicker Parker Romo made all five of his field goals, while Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier combined to rush for over 200 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons improved to 1-1. McCarthy passed for 158 yards and turned the ball over three times in the losing effort. The Purple fell to 1-1. Minnesota will host Cincinnati on Sunday.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ star quarterback is dealing with a serious injury. Joe Burrow left the team’s game against the Jaguars on Sunday with a toe issue after getting sacked halfway through the second quarter. The 28-year-old was taken into the locker room and ruled out for the rest of the game. E-S-P-N reports the injury could require surgery. Burrow was replaced by backup Jake Browning, who led the team to a comeback victory. The Bengals visit Minnesota on Sunday at noon.
Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions torched the Chicago Bears 52-21 in N-F-C North action at Ford Field. Goff completed 23-of-28 pass attempts for 334 yards and five touchdowns to help Detroit notch its first victory. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 151 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Amon-Ra St. Brown had nine receptions for 115 yards and three TD’s. The Lions are now 1-and-1. Chicago Q-B Caleb Williams was 19-of-30 for 207 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the losing effort. Rome Odunze finished with seven catches for 128 yards and two scores as the Bears dropped to 0-2.
