TINY HOMES

The New Ulm Business Resource and Innovation Center (NUBRIC) gave a quarterly report to the New Ulm Economic Development Authority Tuesday and told the EDA that the tiny home project is garnering great interest from the community.   The idea is to expand workforce housing by creating simplified living spaces with small floor plans.  City Manager Chris Dalton says it’s a good plan…

The city of New Ulm approved a Planned Unit Development application for property at 418 and 424 13th South Street and 1305 to 1315 South Minnesota Street to develop a tiny home community.  When asked about a timeline for occupancy, NUBRIC officials said ideally it would take six weeks to build the homes.  All engineering is complete so NUBRIC is seeking bids for the project.  If the weather stays favorable, ground could be broken before winter.  Officials said ideally they would like to see occupancy sometime in the spring.
