HIGHWAY 22 MANKATO TO ST. PETER DETOUR TO OPEN LATER TODAY (MONDAY)

MnDOT says the detour for the Highway 22 Mankato to St. Peter project is expected to be lifted by 4 pm today (Monday).  Highway 22 has been closed since April with through traffic detoured to Highways 14 and 169.  Crews are expected to continue wrap-up work over the winter with limited traffic impacts and the two-year project will resume in the spring, weather permitting.  MnDOT says reconstruction of the middle section of Highway 22 between Mankato to St. Peter will resume in 2026 as will construction on the Rabbit Road bridge north of Kasota.  Preparation also started this year for a future multi-use walking and biking rail connecting St. Peter to Mankato which will remain closed during the winter.  Mathiowetz Construction Company was awarded the project with a bid of over $36-million.
