OLIVIA WOMAN RECOVERING FROM ACCIDENTAL GUNSHOT TO THE LEG

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative on the report of a shooting Friday just after 7 am.  Authorities say the incident happened in a parking lot.  The caller reported the 31-year-old victim was in a vehicle and was being driven to the Olivia Hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg.  Law enforcement along with the Olivia ambulance service intercepted the vehicle just outside of Olivia.  The victim was taken to the Olivia Hospital and then flown to St. Cloud Hospital for further treatment.  The victim whose name has not been released is listed in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.  Officers found a handgun from the vehicle.  Authorities were told the shooting was accidental.  The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
