Gopher Womens BB upsets USC
(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 2019 when it knocked off number-21 U-S-C yesterday at Williams Arena 63-62. The Golden Gophers had an early 11-point lead in the game, but eventually fell behind by 13-points in the third quarter. Forward Grace Grocholski scored a team-high 25 points, helping spark the second half comeback. Senior center Sophie Hart of Farmington added 15 points. Minnesota improved to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten, while the visiting Trojans are now 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Next for Minnesota is a Wednesday night home game against fourth-rated U-C-L-A at 7 P-M at The Barn. The Bruins beat Nebraska yesterday 83-61 in Lincoln.
