GAYLORD SHOOTING SUSPECT APPEARS IN COURT
The suspect in a shooting in Gaylord Monday appeared in Sibley County District Court Wednesday on a charge of felony second-degree assault. Law enforcement say they were dispatched to 6th Street for a fight in progress. Authorities found an adult male laying motionless in the snow and 48-year-old Jesus Saldivar of Arlington standing over him with a gun holstered on his hip. The victim had a single gunshot wound on his upper left thigh. The victim and Saldivar had gotten into a fight over the victim’s alleged harrassment of Salidvar’s girlfriend. Authorities say both men fell to the ground when Saldivar allegedly shot the victim. The court set unconditional bail at $500,000 or $10,000 cash or $100,000 bond with conditions. He was also ordered to turn in his permit to carry to the Scott County sheriff’s Office within five days. He faces 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both if he is convicted. He is scheduled for a Rule 8 hearing January 29.
