Pickup Breaks Through Ice on Stearns County Lake

Two people are okay after the pickup they were in partially broke through the ice on a Stearns County lake this past weekend.

The Sheriff’s Office says the front end of the pickup broke through the ice on Lake Kroronis Saturday afternoon near the Veterans Park Access.

Thirty-three-year-old Kyle Vierzba of Montrose and 52-year-old Shawn Vierzba of Little Canada were able to escape the vehicle and return to shore without injury.

The vehicle was then removed from the lake.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to be mindful of changing ice conditions on the many lakes throughout Stearns County.
