Below is the complete statement.
I have spent the past several weeks contemplating and reflecting on next steps for my life and career. I have decided that I will not seek a third term as Carver County Sheriff.
Serving this organization and our communities for more than three decades has been a tremendous honor. What began as a calling grew into a lifelong commitment to public service, one that has shaped me both personally and professionally. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside so many dedicated men and women who share an unwavering commitment to public safety and service.
I am especially thankful to the voters who placed their trust in me by electing me—twice—to serve as Sheriff. That trust is something I have never taken lightly. To be chosen by the people of this county to lead this organization has been a profound honor, and I remain humbled by the confidence you placed in me.
Together, we have faced challenges, achieved meaningful progress, and upheld the values that define this office. I am proud of what we have accomplished and confident that the organization is well positioned for continued success under future leadership.
While this chapter of my career is ending at the end of the year, my respect for this office, its mission, and the community we serve will never waver. I extend my sincere thanks to the citizens, our partners, and every member of this organization for their support, professionalism, and dedication over the years.
It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to serve.
