A New Controlling Owner For Twins
The Minnesota Twins announced yesterday that Joe Pohlad would no longer be in charge of the team and instead his brother Tom Pohlad now be leading the franchise as controlling owner. Tom is the nephew of former Twins chairman Jim Pohlad and grandson of former Twins principal owner Carl Pohlad. Pohlad says this is a move they had to make.
Minnesota also announced that the venture capital firm Glick Family Investments, Minneapolis business leader George Hicks, and Wild owner Craig Leipold are all set to become minority owners of the franchise. That financial move helps get the club out of debt. Tom Pohlad says the decision to remove baseball decisions from his brother Joe has been tough on their family. Tom Pohlad says they want to recover the faith of the Twins fans.
