AG’S OFFICE SECURES CONVICTION IN LYON COUNTY

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office has secured the conviction of a Tracy man who is accused of two counts of theft by swindle.  Darin lee Horner admitted to taking money from multiple customers when he operated Affordable Appliance Plus in Tracy between 2017 and 2019.  He took money without ordering appliances people purchased and with the intent not to deliver the goods they paid for.   Officials say Horner then used the money elsewhere including deposits to his personal account to make his house payments.  Over 50 people were  victimized in the ongoing scheme between 2017 and 2019.  The total loss to victims was estimated at over $200,000.  The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted the Tracy Police Department in the investigation.
