AMPI to Sell New Ulm Butter Plant
Associated Milk Producers Incorporated (AMPI) has announced that it will be selling its New Ulm butter plant to Grassland Dairy Products in Greenwood, Wisconsin.
AMPI Marketing Vice President Sarah Schmidt says the New Ulm plant will remain in production. It employs 185 people.
The AMPI Corporate office will remain in New Ulm.
AMPI processes nearly 5 billion pounds of milk a year with annual sales of nearly $1-billion.
Grassland Dairy Products produces bulk, whipped, salted and unsalted butter and is in the northwestern par of Wisconsin about 30 miles northwest of Eau Claire.
Grassland and AMPI leadership said the sale aligns with each organization’s core competencies.
Terms of the transaction are confidential.
The sale is expected to close by the end of the year.
