ATV Breaks Through Ice on Meeker County Lake

An ATV broke through the ice on a Meeker County Lake Sunday afternoon.

At 2:45pm, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an ATV that had broken through the ice on Belle Lake near the access on 163rd Street in Ellsworth Township.

The driver, a juvenile male, reported that while returning to shore, the front end of the ATV broke through the ice and the vehicle eventually became fully submerged.

Both the driver and a juvenile passenger were able to escape without injury and safely made it back to shore.
