AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING TWO INCIDENTS OF VEHICLES HITTING BUILDINGS

Blue Earth County authorities are investigating two separate incidents of vehicles hitting buildings Thursday evening.  The sheriff’s department says first responders were called just after 7:20 pm to the Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in South Bend Township.  The preliminary investigation says that 72-year-old Alice Laukkonen of rural Mankato was driving a Volkswagen Jetta north on County Road 33, left the road and hit the west side of the building.  Laukkonen sustained minor injuries and was taken to MCHS for treatment.  Deputies detected impairment and she was processed for DWI.  Charges are pending the results of the chemical test.  One resident of Hillcrest sustained minor injuries and was taken to MCHS for treatment.  Residents were able to stay onsite and were relocated within the building.   Another, unrelated incident was reported in Eagle Lake.  No other details about that incident have been released yet.
