Big Stone County Flooding
The Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office has urged caution for motorists and Big Stone Lake property owners due to flooding in the area, including during the overnight hours. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when traveling. Several roads are experiencing water over the roadway, and some have sustained damage from water flow. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, remain alert, and never attempt to drive through flowing water.
Flooded roadways may remain impassable for several days, while others could clear within hours. Extra precautions should be taken, especially when traveling at night, as water and road damage may be difficult to see.
Property owners along Big Stone Lake should closely monitor rising water levels. The Sheriff’s Office recommends taking preventive measures, including raising docks or securing watercraft that may be stored on boat lifts. Additional rainfall is expected over the coming days, which may further impact road and lake conditions. Follow all posted warnings and advisories.
