Blood Tests Show Alcohol Was Not a Factor in Fatal Fire Truck Crash
The State Patrol now says alcohol was not a factor in the fire truck crash that killed one person in Yellow Medicine County on September 26.
The crash killed 43-year-old Patrick Remiger of rural Wood Lake.
Two others, 37-year-old Andrew Vanhecke and a 6-year-old boy both of Wood Lake were seriously injured.
A search warrant filed after the crash sought a blood sample from Andrew Vanhecke who was driving the fire truck. The results confirmed that alcohol was not a contributing factor.
The fire truck was returning from Lakeview School’s homecoming festivities.
The investigation continues.
