Bomb Sniffing Dog Marks First Session at the State Capitol
The Minnesota State Patrol’s newest K-9 team is patrolling the grounds at the Capitol in Saint Paul.
The K-9 is a 2-year-old German Shorthaired pointer named Maja. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, sniffing for explosive material, checking unattended bags or other suspicious items and conducting bomb sweeps is a job Maja was born to do since the breed is known for having a keen sense of smell.
Maja graduated from Minnesota State Patrol K-9 Unit training last June and received national certification in October.
Trooper Megan Brynell and partner Maja are one of 13 Minnesota State Patrol K-9 teams.
