Bucks rally from 24-point, 4th-quarter deficit to beat Timberwolves 110-103

MILWAUKEE, WI — Giannis Antetokounmpo posted his third consecutive triple-double, finishing with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists, as the Milwaukee Bucks mounted a dramatic comeback to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 on Tuesday night.

The Bucks, who extended their winning streak to five games, erased a 24-point deficit in the fourth quarter, delivering the team’s most significant comeback since play-by-play tracking began in the 1996-97 season. The victory also snapped Minnesota’s five-game winning streak. Milwaukee had previously lost the last 276 regular-season or playoff games when trailing by at least 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Down 95-71 with under 10 minutes left, the Bucks went on a 23-0 run, tying the game 97-97 on a three-pointer from AJ Green with 3:36 remaining.

In the next possession, a scuffle between Milwaukee’s Kevin Porter Jr. and Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert led to technical fouls for both players, while Gary Trent Jr. of the Bucks also received a technical after jawing with Gobert.

Anthony Edwards of Minnesota made one free throw to give the Timberwolves a 98-97 lead. However, Bobby Portis stole the ball from Edwards on Minnesota’s next possession, setting up a dunk by Porter that gave Milwaukee the lead for good. This ignited an 8-0 run to finish the game.

Porter finished with 21 points, while Portis, returning from a 25-game suspension, contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds.

For Minnesota, Edwards led the way with 25 points, while Donte DiVincenzo added 24 points and Naz Reid chipped in 17.

The Timberwolves missed a crucial opportunity to improve their position in the highly competitive Western Conference, where they entered the game tied for fifth place with a 46-33 record, just half a game behind fourth-place Denver.

Antetokounmpo, who had missed one game due to left shoulder tendinopathy, continued his remarkable run. He had previously posted a career-high 20 assists to go with 35 points and 17 rebounds in a 126-113 win at Philadelphia. He followed that performance with a 36-point, 15-rebound, 10-assist effort in a 121-115 overtime win at Miami.

The Timberwolves’ commanding lead evaporated when Trent nailed a three-pointer while being fouled with 9:53 remaining. He completed a four-point play with the free throw, sparking Milwaukee’s game-changing 23-0 run. Over the final 10 minutes, the Bucks outscored Minnesota 39-8.

Looking ahead, both teams will play again on Thursday, with the Timberwolves traveling to Memphis and the Bucks hosting New Orleans.
