Bueckers wins WNBA Rookie of the Year
(Burbank, CA/Minnesota News Network) — Minnesota native Paige Bueckers is this year’s W-N-B-A Rookie of the Year. League commissioner Cathy Engelbert surprised Bueckers with the news ahead of her appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Tuesday. Bueckers was selected with the first overall draft pick by the Dallas Wings. She averaged 19-point-two points, five-point-four assists and three-point-nine rebounds in her rookie season. Bueckers received 70 of 72 possible votes to win the award. Bueckers played high school basketball at Hopkins before a championship collegiate career at U-Conn.
