Buxton Knock Out Of Derby In Semi’s

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton had a strong showing in last night’s Major League Baseball Home Run Derby in Atlanta. Buxton made the semifinals after a strong opening round saw him hit 20 long balls. He was ousted in the semifinals by Tampa Bay slugger Junior Caminero, who eventually lost to Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh. Meanwhile, Buxton and Twins teammate Joe Ryan will represent Minnesota in tonight’s M-L-B All-Star Game. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli says tonight will be a good time for Byron Buxton to showcase to the world what he can do.

Both are reserves on the A-L roster. Buxton is from Baxley, Georgia, about a four-hour drive from where tonight’s game will be played. First pitch tonight is set for 7 P-M.
