Carver County Jail Won’t House ICE Detainees

(Learfield News/Chaska, MN) — The Carver County Sheriff’s Office will not pursue a contract with ICE to house its detainees.

Sheriff Jason Kamerud says following careful review, they determined that ICE’s requirements were beyond what their facility can accommodate and would take more than half of the jail space.

He says their priority remains maintaining safety and serving the community.
