Charges Filed In Fatal SUV/Bicycle Crash

Charges have been filed related to a fatal accident that left a man dead last month in Fargo. 

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jeremy Jorgenson, (42) of Hawley, has been charged with a class B felony following the death of Bernd Scholz, (61) on March 12th. Authorities say Scholz was westbound on a bicycle when he was struck on NP Avenue at 10th Street just before 8pm. He was transported by Ambulance to Sanford Hospital and died from his injuries while at the hospital. 

The striking vehicle did not stop at the crash scene and fled. Officials say it was dark at the time but that the collision took place at a lighted intersection. 

According to the Highway Patrol report, witnesses identified a white SUV. Jorgenson was charged April 1 with “Duty in accident involving death or injury”.
