CHARGES PENDING AFTER CRASH SOUTH OF SACRED HEART

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was called to a crash on County Road 9 about five miles south of Sacred Heart Tuesday morning just before 7 am.  Authorities say they found a semi driven by 27-year-old Bayron Maldonado of Montevideo in the field.  It is believed that the semi was traveling south when another vehicle passed it.  Maldonado then hit the brakes and lost control, entering the ditch and snapping off a power pole leaving wires hanging over the road.  Deputies say Maldonado wasn’t hurt but alcohol was involved.  He was arrested and charges are being considered by the Renville County Attorney’s Office.  Sacred Heart Fire department, Xcel Energy and Renville County Public works assisted at the scene.
