Chaska native will return to Gophers, Southern MN native will go to the NHL

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher men’s hockey team received a jolt of good news yesterday when star player Jimmy Snuggerud (SNUG-er-rood) of Chaska announced he will return for his junior season next year. There had been speculation that he would sign with the St. Louis Blues, who drafted him in the first round of the 2022 N-H-L Entry Draft. Snuggerud scored 42 goals and dished out 42 assists in his first two seasons with Minnesota. In other Gopher hockey news, team captain Jaxon Nelson of Magnolia signed a free agent professional contract with the Boston Bruins. He will report to their A-H-L affiliate in Providence. Nelson scored 11 goals in the final eight games of the season for Minnesota.
