City Council Approves Selection of Willmar Police Chief

The Willmar City Council voted unanimously Monday night to make Willmar Police Sgt. Michael Holme the next chief of police.

The West Central Tribune reports City Administrator Leslie Valiant delivered her recommendation to hire Holme, and the council approved, authorizing her to enter into contract negotiations and extend a formal offer that will be subject to final approval by the council.

Holme was first hired in 2007 and has been serving as interim police chief since October following the retirement of Jim Felt.
