College BB Scores From 01/28
The Badgers rallied from a 20 point deficit to climb past the Gopher men’s basketball team 67-63 in Madison. Minnesota was up by 20 late in the first half and took a 35-17 lead into halftime. But Wisconsin kept chipping away outscored the Gophers 50-28 in the second half and came away with the victory. Gopher head coach Niko Medved on what he liked about his team despite the loss.
Bobby Durkin had 20 points for the visitors while Isaac Asuma chipped in 16 and Langston Reynolds added 12 points. The Badgers John Blackwell led all scorers with 23 points. The Gophers have lost six straight and are now 10-11 overall and 3-7 in the Big Ten. They’re at Penn State on Sunday afternoon for a 1 P-M tip.
MIAC final-Gustavus remains unbeaten in conference play with a 72 to 51 road win over Hamline. UMAC scores-North Central out scores Martin Luther in overtime to pick up an 86 to 83 win. Will Walter, led five players in double figures, scoring 21 and the Vikings hold off Mn-Morris 107 to 105 in double overtime.
Tori McKinney collected 23 points and Mara Braun added 22 as the Minnesota women’s basketball team (15-6, 6-4 Big Ten) defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions (7-15, 0-11 Big Ten) 87-66 on the road Wednesday at Rec Hall. McKinney and Braun led the Golden Gophers with standout scoring performances. McKinney added three assists and two steals, while Braun contributed three assists, two steals and two blocks. Amaya Battle recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Sophie Hart finished with 12 points. Minnesota did a great job taking care of the basketball, dishing out 20 assists while turning the ball over eight times. Individually, Hart lent a helping hand the most for the Gophers with four assists. Gopher head coach Dawn Plitzuweit on what the Gophers tightened up in the second half to get the win.
The Gophers have won three straight and will prepare to host Purdue on Sunday afternoon at 2 P-M from Williams Arena.
