College Hockey Weekend preview

(undated/Minnesota News Network) — The Golden Gophers are home this weekend for an instate rivalry against Minnesota Duluth. The Gophers split a pair last weekend in Grand Forks against North Dakota. After dropping the opener 2-1 they rebounded in the rematch with a 5-1 victory. U-M-D has opened the season winning five of six and are coming off a weekend sweep of Bemidji. The Gophers and Bulldogs face off at 7 P-M both tonight and tomorrow at 3-M Arena at Mariucci. In the N-C-H-C this weekend, St. Cloud State has a pair this weekend against Alaska Anchorage. In the C-C-H-A, Bemidji State will host Augustana and Minnesota State will host R-P-I. And St. Thomas is ready to open up the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena on the Tommies campus with a weekend set against Providence. The new $175-million dollar arena marks the first time the Tommies will play on campus since World War II. The new era lifts off tonight with a 7 P-M face off. In the W-C-H-A, the Gophers and Bulldogs will meet in Duluth, St. Cloud State has a pair in Columbus against Ohio State and the Tommies will open up the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena with a 2 P-M puck drop this afternoon. Minnesota State has a weekend series at Wisconsin which starts tomorrow and concludes on Sunday afternoon.
