The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team dropped a home game to number-three U-C-L-A last night 76-58. The visiting Bruins jumped out to a 17-9 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back, outscoring Minnesota in every quarter. The Gophers struggled shooting the deep ball, going 4-for-17 from three-point range for 23.5-percent. Minnesota senior point guard Amaya Battle had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the way. Kiki Rice poured in 25 points for U-C-L-A. Gopher head coach Dawn Plitzuweit says Rice was too much for them.
The Gophers dipped to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten, while the Bruins improved to 16-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference. Minnesota will visit Washington on Sunday at 5 P-M.
In the MIAC, Concordia trailed by 15 in the first half, slowly came back to defeat Gustavus 70 to 66 to improve to 5 and 1 in the league. UMAC scores-Martin Luther women improves to 2 and 1 in the league witha 71 to 47 road win over Northwestern. Wilhelmina Wenz had 20 rebounds, setting a school record for rebounds in a game and Bethany Lutheran defeats Crown College 62 to 30.
MIAC Men’s basketball-Gustavus pickups up their 12th straight win, with an 82 to 77 overtime win over Concordia. Gustavus improves to 14 and 1 overall and are 6 and o in the league. UMAC Finals- Northwestern raced out to a 17 point lead, in the first half, never looked back defeating Martin Luther 87 to 65 and Crown college picks up a 78 to 69 road win over Bethany Lutheran,
