Collier has 23 points, McBride 20 as Lynx dominate Sun 102-63

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Napheesa Collier led the charge with 23 points and Kayla McBride added 20 as the Minnesota Lynx dominated the struggling Connecticut Sun, cruising to a 102-63 victory on Sunday. The loss marks Connecticut’s ninth straight defeat.

Minnesota (14-2) jumped out to an early 10-point lead after the first quarter and then exploded in the second, opening with a 21-0 run to take a commanding 50-26 lead at halftime. Collier stayed hot in the third, pouring in 15 more points as the Lynx outscored the Sun 27-15 in the period.

Courtney Williams nearly notched a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. The Lynx remained perfect at home, improving to 8-0, and showcased their depth — 11 of 12 players scored in what was their highest point total of the season. The lone exception was Karlie Samuelson, who exited early with an ankle injury after just three minutes of play.

McBride knocked down five 3-pointers, surpassing Kristi Toliver for seventh place on the WNBA’s all-time list with 653 career threes — one more than the entire Sun team managed.

For Connecticut (2-15), rookie Aneesah Morrow came off the bench to tally 16 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals. Olivia Nelson-Ododa added 10 points in a tough shooting night overall for the Sun, who hit just 35% from the field.

With both teams resting starters in the fourth quarter, Minnesota’s Natisha Hiedeman contributed 10 points and seven assists off the bench. The Lynx dished out 27 assists on 36 made field goals in a well-rounded offensive performance.

Minnesota next hosts the Indiana Fever on Tuesday in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship — a game that won’t count toward regular-season standings but will decide the midseason title.
