Congressional Art Competition Winners Announced
Winners in the U.S. Congressional Art Competition have been announced.
District 7 Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach says her office received almost 50 submissions this year, and with so many wonderful pieces, deciding the winner was not easy.
The first-place winner in District 7, Shoshannah from Glencoe-Silver Lake High School, whose painting ‘Sunset Summer Nights’ will hang in the U.S. Capitol to be seen by thousands of people, including staff, distinguished guests, and Members of Congress (see other winners below).
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district.
Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

First Place: Tempera Painting “Sunset Summer Nights” by Shoshannah from Glencoe-Silver Lake High School will hang in the U.S. Capitol.

Second Place: Photograph “Sunset” by Carlie from the Underwood School District will hang in Fischbach’s Washington, D.C. office.

Honorable Mention: Pastel “Succulent” by Sidney from Central Minnesota Christian School will hang in Fischbach’s Moorhead office.

Honorable Mention: Pastel “Trout” by Braxton from Central Minnesota Christian School will hang in Fischbach’s Willmar office.
