Constance “Connie” Grimes
Constance Mary Grimes, age 88 of Wheaton, Minnesota, formerly of Dumont, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, MN, where she had been a resident.
Visitation for Connie Grimes will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN.
Memorial Mass for Constance Mary Grimes will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN, with Fr. John Paul Knopik Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Dumont, Minnesota.
Connie grew up in a very loving family with seven siblings and was the second child born to Felix and Clotildis Frisch on August 8, 1937. She was born in the Graceville Hospital in Big Stone County, MN. She attended elementary school at the Parochial School in Dumont from 1943 to 1950 and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1954. After graduation she attended M.S.T.C. in Moorhead for a year taking accounting classes. In the fall of 1955, she attended school in Minneapolis for another business course.
In 1956 she met and married Billy Grimes, to this union four children were born. Connie and Billy operated a furniture store in Dumont. She was also the secretary for the newly created organization called The Minnesota Real Estate Taxpayers Association, all the time farming full time with her husband Billy in the Dumont area.
Connie had a great love for music and it showed in her ability to play many instruments; her favorite was the organ. She was the choir director for years at St. Peters Catholic Church in Dumont. She also enjoyed playing in the Dumont Kitchen Band with her group of friends. Connie was a member of the local Red Hatters chapter. She also enjoyed volunteering, had many hobbies and also traveling with her brothers, sisters and friends-be it anywhere from Rome to the local casino and many places in between. She especially enjoyed going for coffee just about every morning with Roger and Betty.

Danny (Kelly) Grimes of Lake Crystal, MN, Amanda (Bennett) Barker of Monticello, MN, Tara (Brian) Donnay of Sartell, MN, Brandon Grimes of Detroit Lakes, MN, Katie (Matt) Powlish of West Fargo, North Dakota, Caurisa (Dean) Peyton, Wheaton, MN, Jesse (Kassandra) Grimes, Wheaton, MN; McKenzie Grimes, Big Sky, Montana, Carter Grimes, Fargo, ND; great grandchildren: Harper and William Grimes; Asher, Jackson, and Cole Barker; Kyla, Alayna, Paige and Boyd Donnay; Winnie Powlish; Mallory, Nora, and Sadie Peyton; Brinley and Connor Grimes; siblings: Roger (Betty) Frisch of Dumont, MN, Curtis (Sharon) Frisch of Wheaton, MN, Rita DeBrobander of St. Louis Park, MN, Beverly Hess of Tyler, MN, Dennis Frisch of Moorhead, MN, Doug Frisch of Wheaton, MN, Theresa (Daryl) Anderson of Dumont, MN.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband: Billy; granddaughter: Morgan; parents: Felix and Clotildis Frisch; parents-in-law: Bill and Frances Grimes; brothers-in-law: Doug Hess, Rod Debrobander, and Bob Dodds; sisters-in-law: Becky Frisch, Judy Frisch, and Dorothy Mae Eckert.
