Corps Raises Water Releases at Lac qui Parle Dam

(Learfield News/St. Paul, MN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is increasing water releases at Lac qui Parle Dam from 2,500 up to 6,000 cubic feet per second starting June 20.

Officials say it’s to prevent the reservoir from overtopping its emergency spillway.

The higher releases may cause localized flooding along the Minnesota River downstream.

Officials expect river levels to return to normal by mid-July and advise caution in the area.
