County Unemployment Rates for May Released
The County unemployment rates for May were released this week by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The Stevens County unemployment rate is 2.4 percent, which is down 0.6 percent from April. In fact, all the surrounding counties in our monthly survey showed decreases in their unemployment rates.
Big Stone County is at 2.9 percent, down 0.8 percent from April. Douglas is at 2.8 percent, down 0.4 percent. Grant is at 3.6 percent, down 1.3. Pope sits at an even 3.0 percent, down 0.6. Swift is at 3.3, down 0.4. And Traverse is at 2.4, down 0.5.
The overall Minnesota unemployment rate for May was 3.2 percent, which is unchanged from April. The U.S. rate is 4.0 percent, which is slightly up by 0.1 percent from April.
