CREWS BATTLE GRASS FIRE SOUTHEAST OF SLEEPY EYE

Sleepy Eye fire crews were called to a grass fire in Stark Township about four miles southeast of Sleepy Eye Friday.  Authorities say crews were called about 10:45 am to a mile east of Highway 4 just south of County Road 24.  Windy conditions made fighting the fire challenging so firefighters trained their hoses on tree stumps and branches after they put out the burning grass.
