Cunningham scores a season-high 40 and Pistons win 3rd straight, 119-105 over Timberwolves
DETROIT, MI – Cade Cunningham delivered a standout performance with a season-high 40 points, leading the Detroit Pistons to a 119-105 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. Cunningham, who also dished out nine assists, surpassed his previous season best of 35 points, set against Milwaukee on November 13.
Despite Anthony Edwards setting a career-high 53 points, the Timberwolves fell short. Edwards, who had set his previous career-high of 51 points last season against Washington, hit a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter to match his record, but he was silent until the final 22 seconds of the game.
Malik Beasley added 23 points for the Pistons, who secured their third consecutive win and sixth in their last seven games. Tobias Harris contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Ausar Thompson posted a career-high six steals along with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Julius Randle was the only other Timberwolves player to reach double figures, scoring 17 points.
Looking ahead, the Timberwolves will face the Los Angeles Clippers, while the Pistons will take on Portland on Monday night.
