Date to Remove Fish Houses From Minnesota Water Passes

Ice conditions are deteriorating in our area fast.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding people to check ice conditions before venturing out as warmer weather becomes frequent. Conservation Officer Nicholas Prachar in Baudette reports continually changing ice conditions on the Rainy River. He says ice continues to open westward and “tributaries are starting to show signs of lessening ice”.

The removal date for inland waters passed March 17th. March 31st was the removal date for waters that share a border with Canada. Any shelters left on the ice may be confiscated and destroyed by conservation officers and the owners of the shelters may be fined.

Meanwhile, Conservation Officer Nick Bruesewitz in Karlstad says enforcement action was taken last week for an individual burning prohibited materials.
