DEADLY SHOOTING IN MANKATO

Authorities in Mankato are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another in jail.  Officers found the victim, identified as 27-year-old Muridi Hassan Hussein of Mankato, inside a vehicle near Dunkin’ Donuts off Star Street around 9:30 Sunday morning.  Police say the suspect, 23-year-old A’Quan Kaishaid Laurence Thornton was arrested a short time later.  A gun was also recovered.  Mankato police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage to call 911.  The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota River VAlley Drug Task Force are assisting in the investigation.
