Delores Mae Wiese, age 91 of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Hancock, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Celebration of Life for Delores Mae Wiese will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Tatum Bible Church, 4930 East Greenway Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254,
Born on September 17, 1934, in Morris, Minnesota, Delores was the beloved daughter of William and Rose (Feuchtenberger) Greiner. She was baptized and confirmed in December of 1944, grounding her life early in a faith that would guide her every step. Delores graduated from Morris High School in 1952 and went on to earn her Elementary Education degree from Moorhead State University—a calling that would define much of her life.
Delores began her teaching career in Glenwood, Minnesota, where she taught first grade. On August 10, 1957, she married the love of her life, Ronald Wiese. Together they built a life rooted in partnership, purpose, and joy. The couple moved to Hancock, Minnesota, where Delores continued teaching first grade before stepping into leadership as the Hancock Elementary Principal. In 1961, they welcomed their daughter Kim, followed by their son Troy in 1963.
Even while leading schools and classrooms, Delores’ greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and encouraging mother, always present for her children’s activities and accomplishments. Kim and Troy fondly recall that after every event—win or lose, happy or hard—Delores gathered the family on the green couches for reflection, conversation, and comfort, complete with Cheez-Whiz or summer sausage, Triscuits, or canned shrimp with cocktail sauce. Those moments captured who Delores was: intentional, nurturing, and deeply connected.
Delores’ educational leadership continued as Principal of Morris Elementary until she and Ron moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1992. Her passion for children and learning never slowed. In Phoenix, she taught in the Washington Elementary School District as a gifted education teacher and later as a substitute. She also had a primary role in the establishment of the preschool at Resurrection Lutheran Church (now Tatum Bible Church), serving as Preschool and Children’s Ministry Director well into her 70s. Even after retiring from church ministry, Delores continued substituting at John Jacobs Elementary School—where she had the joy of working in the same school as Kim and Troy.
A woman of deep faith, Delores was an active member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, where she taught Bible School, led the Children’s Choir, and served as Luther League Leader. Her faith was not just something she professed—it was something she lived through service, leadership, and love.
Though Arizona became home, Minnesota always held her heart. Delores and Ron cherished their summers at the family cabin on Pelican Lake in Ashby, where they hosted countless gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and community. Delores found great joy in cooking and baking, generously sharing her talents with all who gathered. The cabin deck became a beloved meeting place for neighbors and friends, marked by daily happy hours, card games, and shared stories.
Delores and Ron were devoted grandparents, moving to Phoenix to be closer to their grandchildren. They attended countless basketball games and musical/dance performances, offering unwavering encouragement and pride every step of the way.
Delores is survived by her husband: Ronald Wiese; her daughter: Kim (Dewain) Fox of Phoenix, AZ; her son: Troy (Patti) Wiese of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren: Brock (Sierra) Entner of Fort Mohave, Arizona, Christian (Evelyn) Wiese of Phoenix, AZ, and Sydney Wiese of Corvallis, Oregon; and her great-grandson, Roman of Phoenix, AZ; her sister: Joanne Wevley; brothers: Lloyd Greiner and Richard (Sandy) Greiner; sisters-in-law: Jan Greiner and Pam Greiner; and many nieces and nephews.
