DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AGENTS WORKING IN MANKATO

Mankato Public Safety has been notified that agents with the U.S Department of Homeland Security are working in Mankato and have presented valid law enforcement credentials.  Mankato Public safety officials say they are not aware of the specific nature of their activities and is not participating or assisting with any operation.  Authorities are also not aware of how long the agents will be in Mankato nor the scope of any potential investigation.  Public Safety officials say if you question whether the authority of individuals claiming to be law enforcement is valid, you are encouraged to call 911 to verify their identity.
