Dewey M. Nelson

Dewey Merlin Nelson, age 87 of Morris, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at West Wind Village in Morris, MN.

No formal services will be held. His family plans to meet and celebrate his life in the mountains where he enjoyed elk hunting.

Dewey M. Nelson was born in Faribault, MN, to Alfred and Lillian (Gunhus) Nelson. He attended the University of Minnesota where he received an Engineering degree. He worked as an Engineer and went to night school at William Mitchell College of Law. He graduated from law school in 1965.

In 1961, he married Phyllis Sadusky and they had three children; Dan (Lori) Nelson, Brian (Jodi) Nelson, Suzie (Jim) Eklund. They moved to Morris in 1966, where Dewey worked as a lawyer for many years. In 1980, he married Patricia Lesmeister and to that union two sons were born; Craig (Michelle) Nelson, Corey (Tiffany) Nelson.
