DNR Reports Safety Equipment Violations

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources are reminding boaters to have proper paperwork and to make sure all the necessary safety equipment is on board prior to hitting the water.

Conservation Officer Tony Hams in Warroad spent last week checking anglers on the Rainy River and said violations encountered included angling without a license, no license in possession, no throwable PFD, expired boat registration, driving after suspension, expired vehicle registration, and no proof of insurance.

Conservation Officer Coby Fontes in Warroad reports enforcement action was taken for targeting northern pike during the closed inland season, expired boat registration, failure to register a turkey, improper turkey tag validation, and burning without a burn permit.

Meanwhile, Conservation Officer Ben Huener reports that a nuisance-bear complaint was taken near Saint Hilaire.
