Donald Leroy Mekeland Jr., age 81 of Belle Plaine, MN, formerly of Chaska, MN, died peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Lutheran Home of Belle Plaine, MN.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 218 West Second Street, Chaska, MN, with Father Tony VanderLoop officiating. The visitation will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the church.

The burial will be on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Vernon Center Cemetery, Vernon Center, MN.

Survivors include his children, Carrie Mekeland of Belle Plaine, Don III (Dawn) Mekeland of Chaska, Shane Mekeland of Clear Lake; 6 grandchildren, Morgan (Jeff) Essig, Natalie Mekeland, Lanie Piper, Faith Mekeland, Hayden Mekeland, Samantha Mekeland; 4 great grandchildren, Rylie and Blake Essig, Bentley and Porter Mekeland;  sisters, Karen (Tom) Hickok of Amboy, Kathy Boelter of Waseca, Cheryl (Marvin) Blok of Baldwin, WI, Patti Koehler of Mankato; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
