Doris Martha Roepke
Doris Martha Roepke, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Havenwood of Burnsville in Burnsville, MN.
Doris was born on April 13, 1940, in Arlington, Minnesota, to Arthur Karl and Edna Martha (Maas) Koester. She was baptized on April 28, 1940 and was later confirmed in her faith. Doris graduated from Glencoe High School in 1958.
On July 13, 1960, she was united in marriage to Maynard Herman Roepke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glencoe, MN. They made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota, before relocating to Inver Grove Heights in 1979. Later, they moved to the cabin they built in Buffalo, Minnesota—a place Doris especially loved.
Their marriage was blessed with three children: Steve, Scott, and Julie. Doris and Maynard shared 54 years of loving marriage until Maynard’s passing on October 14, 2014.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, dancing, and listening to polka music. A faithful and active member of her church, she cherished being outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. She found joy in birdwatching—especially loons, cardinals, and hummingbirds—and had a deep love for animals, particularly cats and dogs. The cabin in Buffalo held a special place in her heart, where many memories were made.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Maynard; parents, Arthur Karl and Edna Martha (Maas) Koester; sister, Elenora Hardel; and brother-in-law, Harold Hardel.
She is survived by her brother, Vernon (Gloria) Koester; her children, Steve (Connie) Roepke, Scott (Deb) Roepke, Julie (Nick) Christ; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
