Dorofeyev has 2 goals and an assist, Golden Knights beat the Wild 4-1 for share of NHL lead
LAS VEGAS, NV – Pavel Dorofeyev scored two power-play goals and added an assist, while the Vegas Golden Knights exploded for three third-period goals to defeat the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Sunday night.
With the win, the Golden Knights moved into a tie with Washington and Winnipeg at the top of the NHL standings with 61 points, preventing their first three-game losing streak of the season. Tomas Hertl contributed a goal and an assist, Keegan Kolesar netted the game-winning goal, and both Mark Stone and Shea Theodore recorded two assists. Goaltender Adin Hill made 15 saves.
Ryan Hartman scored the lone goal for the Wild, and Filip Gustavsson stopped 32 shots in net. Jack Eichel, who leads the Golden Knights with 54 points, missed the game due to illness, but Vegas welcomed back center Nicolas Roy after an 11-game absence due to an upper-body injury.
For Wild goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, this was likely his final game at T-Mobile Arena unless the teams meet again in the playoffs. Fleury, who played for the Golden Knights from their inaugural 2017-18 season through 2021, remains one of the franchise’s most beloved figures. While Fleury didn’t play against his former team, he was warmly cheered by the crowd, and fans chanted his name during pregame, the first timeout, and in the final moments of the game.
After taking a 1-0 lead, Minnesota struggled to maintain control. The Wild were outshot 17-6 in the second period as the Golden Knights began to take over. Dorofeyev’s two power-play goals helped extend Vegas’s strong performance on the man advantage, with the team now having scored four power-play goals in their last four games.
Next, the Wild will host Edmonton on Wednesday, while the Golden Knights travel to Nashville on Tuesday.
